#loveforcelia

On March 3rd, 2019, the Wyo Drama Club hosted a fundraising concert in honor of Celia and her love of music.
The community was invited to participate as performers or volunteers, and the outpouring of love and support for Celia surpassed anything we could have hoped for or imagined. Below is the final performance, which raised over $7,200 for Celia and her family.

A heartfelt goes out THANK YOU to everyone who helped make “Songs For Celia” possible!

About Celia…

Celia Cosentino, a 9 year old 4th grader at Wyomissing Hills Elementary Center, was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor on August 16, 2018. After a summer of doctor visits about concerns over a lack of appetite, headaches, vomiting, and weight loss, she was treated with gastrointestinal issues, but was getting no relief. On August 15, she was taken to the ER at Hershey Medical Center, where they ran more tests, but could come up with no definitive answers. She was about to be sent home, but Celia’s mother, Sara, asked one more time to have something done about her headaches, and the doctor ordered a last minute CT scan.

It was discovered that Celia had a large mass in her brain. She was immediately admitted to the PICU and subsequent scans and tests were completed. A few days later, they performed surgery, and were able to remove about 40% of the tumor. Pathology showed that the tumor is a CNS Ganglioneuroblastoma-a rare brain tumor, even more rare with the location, and even more rare still with her age.

Celia is on a very rough chemotherapy regiment which involves 3-5 rounds of 21 day cycles, followed by surgery, followed by stem cell replacement, followed by radiation. This is a long, long road, but we have no doubt that Celia will triumph.
